Why Choose 3D Ultrasound? 3D ultrasound provides unique views of your baby that may not be as easily identifiable in 2D images, including details like feet, hair, and ears.
When Should I Get a 3D Ultrasound? This can be a tricky question, as we can perform a 3D ultrasound at any gestational age. However, if you want to see features like squishy cheeks and possibly even hair, we recommend scheduling your 3D ultrasound between 27 to 33 weeks.
Do All Doctors' Offices Provide 3D Ultrasound? In short, no. While many offices have the necessary equipment, they often lack the time needed to wait for optimal 3D images. Achieving beautiful 3D visuals requires patience, which busy doctors’ offices typically can't afford due to their focus on ensuring the baby's safety. At our facility, you can relax and enjoy watching your baby without that pressure.
What’s the Difference Between 2D, 3D, 4D, HDLive, and 5D?
- 2D Ultrasound: This is the standard black-and-white image most commonly seen.
- 3D Ultrasound: This creates a three-dimensional image, showing features like the entire set of lips rather than just a silhouette.
- 4D Ultrasound: This represents moving images while still providing a 3D visual, similar to a video compared to a picture.
- HDLive: A feature created by GE that enhances 3D and 4D images by adjusting lighting to highlight different aspects of your baby’s appearance.
- 5D: This offers similar benefits to 4D HDLive but is not specific to GE equipment.
Is Ultrasound Safe for My Baby? Yes, ultrasound is considered the gold standard for prenatal imaging and is the first choice for many providers. It doesn't utilize radiation but instead emits high-frequency sound waves that bounce off fluids, tissues, and bones. Our ultrasound machine captures how fast these sound waves return to create images, making it a safe option for prenatal care. While continuous scanning for long hours isn't recommended, ultrasound can be used frequently to check on your baby.
